It was a very emotional weekend for us all as we said good bye and celebrated the life of Grandpa Mel. I was amazed by my children and their tender questions, their odd questions and their very sincere comments about the weekend. They were only minimally involved but they truly understood the situation and were so brave through it all. My favorite question came from Owen and I think it would have made Great Grandpa Mel smile...
Owen: (As we are pulling up to Grandpa Mel's house) "Um mama, why is Grandpa Mel's car still in the driveway?"
Me: "Well honey, I'm not sure. I just don't think anyone has thought about what to do with it yet. Why?"
Owen: "How did Grandpa Mel GET to heaven if his car is still in the driveway?"
